What is the student representative council?

The Student Representative Council (SRC) is a student-led organisation providing students with a voice and representing all students within the school community. The SRC provides students with opportunities to influence school decision-making, for example, student amenities, activities and whole-school events.

Students participating in the SRC will maintain a high standard of personal conduct, display Gorokan High School’s values of Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best and wear the correct school uniform with pride. SRC members demonstrate leadership qualities by serving as good examples of behaviour through their words and actions.

As an SRC member, you will have the opportunity to represent the voices of your peers, be involved in making a valuable contribution to executive school decisions, organise fundraisers, attend leadership events and participate in SRC activities. All SRC members will be expected to participate in meetings, activities and events which will serve to enhance the quality of both the physical and social environment of the school.

The Student Council has five focus areas and every member of the council is part of a action team.

The focus areas for the action teams are:

  • School Facilities
  • Fundraising
  • Environment
  • Education
  • Sports

Attendance

The council meets each day in the SRC Roll Call. In accordance with the constitution, you must attend two-thirds of SRC meetings each semester to maintain an active status in the SRC. If you are unable to attend a meeting, please notify the SRC Coordinator. You must also have an acceptable discipline record (no level placements or suspensions). All SRC members will be expected to participate in meetings, activities and events which will serve to enhance the quality of both the physical and social environment of the school.

Teacher Contact

The SRC is facilitated by Mr Jai McNamara. Please email jai.mcnamara5@det.nsw.edu.au with any questions, concerns, or feedback.
