Stage 4 Years 7 and 8

Stage 4 - Year 7 & 8 - Technology Mandatory

Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) is mandatory for all students in Year 7 and 8.  Students can also select from a range of elective TAS subjects.

The Technology Mandatory programs offered at Gorokan High School aim to foster an interest and introduction into different focus areas.  The focus studied are:

  • Digital Technologies
  • Food & Argiculture
  • Engineering
  • Materials - textiles, wood, metal
  • To inspire our students into the design and production process an excursion to the Royal Easter Show is offered in Term 1.  It has proven to be a very successful day and the students returned with much energy and passion for their world.  Projects undertaken throughout in Technology Mandatory may include and is not exculsive to:

Year 7

  • Metal - barbeque tool
  • Wood - boxes and clocks
  • Food/Ag - pizza - paddock to plate
  • Textiles - felt and patchwork - shape/zippered case with LED light
  • Engineering - rubber band race car and Anki car

Year 8

  • Metal - metal mobile stand
  • Engineering - dragster
  • Ag/food - nutrition
  • Textiles - felt or patchwork cushion
  • Multimodia or art metal

Year 7 Passion Project

Year 7 Passion Project - The passion project was supported by the TAS department and students from Year 7 made a patchwork blanket.  These blankets went to Napal with Year 12 schoolies and donated to new mums and their babies.  The students were very lucky as 7 babies were born on the day of their visit.

Year 7 Technology Mandatory have an excursion to the Royal Easter Show as part of the Technology Mandatory curriculum.  Students have a wonderful day full of new experiences.
